Assessment skills

• Initial needs assessments, wellbeing, standard formulation based, mental health, mental capacity, medico-legal and neuropsychological assessments.

Rehabilitation skills

• Managing the rehabilitation of clients with psychological injury, acquired brain injury, pain management and complex injury.
• Working within multi-disciplinary teams and various settings, such as mental health, acquired brain injury and physical health.

Therapeutic skills

• Working therapeutically with individuals, couples, and families, as well as adults across the full life range and children.
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systemic and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing skills that are used within a focused and time-limited structure.
• Worked with a wide range of adults with complex medical and psychological cases.
• Interest in psychological and adjustment issues relating to chronic illness and pain.

Psycho-education/ group skills

• Experience of running psycho-education, therapy and support groups.
• Taught a very wide range of subjects and run courses on health-related matters, including;

  • Cancer survivorship courses (dealing with post-treatment challenges)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (a skills based course)
  • Mindfulness (8 week MBCT)

Training and Supervision

• Provided training for volunteers, nurses, junior doctors, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and qualified Clinical Psychologists and supervised Trainee Clinical Psychologists, band 7 and 8a Counselling/ Clinical Psychologists.
• Additionally he has presented at conferences and lectured on the Bristol, Bath and Oxford Clinical Psychology trainee courses.
