About the Expert

As a seasoned Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of experience in mental health, Dr Justin Savage has developed specialized expertise in medicolegal report writing, having completed well over 2000 to date. His professional journey is marked by a commitment to the intricacies of compensation cases including personal injury, abuse, and medical negligence. Through years of dedicated practice, he has become adept at crafting meticulous assessments and reports that are instrumental in legal proceedings. He is a full member of the Expert Witness Institute and is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society.

Beyond Dr Savage’s medico-legal acumen, he is the founder and principal psychologist of a private mental health practice. This venture is a testament to his dedication to mental health care, providing tailored therapeutic interventions grounded in empathy and scientific evidence. In terms of professional interests, he has a particular penchant for exploring the role of the unconscious in driving human behaviour, and how the mind and body interact, for example, in somatisation conditions. He has found that training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy has been particularly helpful in developing this understanding.

He enjoys introducing Clinical Psychology students at Staffordshire University to these concepts in his guest lectures.

Recently embracing fatherhood for the second time, he welcomed a son into his growing family.
